I had the pleasure to work on Netflix's Maya and the Three as a character, prop and environment modeler while at Tangent Animation. Please see below for some of the models I got to work on.
JUNGLE LANDS KING
Modelled from sculpted reference
This was one of the most interesting challenges in facial retopology I've encountered. In addition to his face being incredibly narrow and long, with absurdly large, cartoonish features, he also needed to be completely reversible with topology to support nostrils on both sides of his nose.
FROG
Modelled from 2D reference
This bodacious frog can be seen in the series in two modes: magic and slimy.
The director was very specific about the need for this frog to have a booty, but I also needed to provide an alternative so that its cheeks could be hidden away for modesty's sake.
TECA WARRIOR
Modelled costume from 2D reference
These dashing fellas were my first solo modeling endeavor in a professional setting. Working from a base body and face, I created their costumes.
LORD MICTLAN HEART
Modelled from 2D reference
Produced in collaboration with another artist. I was responsible for the snakes and optimization and clean up of the heart model.
Once this asset was placed in set (a very long tube-like structure), I also needed to work together with the environment artist to line the mouths of the snakes up to the walls of the set.
LADY MICTE OWL
I inherited this model from another artist to perform a technical modelling pass/rebuild according to Surfacing and Rigging's specifications. This included (among other things) re-building every feather on her face and body.
JUNGLE LANDS PYRAMIDS
Modelled from 2D reference
In this set I was responsible for the pyramid toppers, as well as elements on the main pyramid, such as the side panels.
JAGUAR BROTHERS STATUE
Modelled from 2D reference
These statues were scattered around the Kingdom of Teca and can often be seen hanging around in the background.
